2017 Lexington Alma White
A Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blend, aromas of fresh peach, grapefruit, gooseberry, elderflowers and white currants. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, intense and concentrated, with a bright line of acidity and a long, penetrating finish
The Lexington “Estate” wines are sourced from the spectacular Gist Ranch Estate Vineyard located in the heart of Santa Cruz Mountains. The vineyard was densely planted in the year 2000 at elevations reaching 2300 feet above sea level, 17 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The heavily fractured, Vaqueros Sandstone soils and unique mountain micro-climate produce singular, deeply concentrated wines that demonstrate the power and elegance of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.
Our first white wine comes from an acre of white Bordeaux varietals planted at the Gist Ranch Estate. We have about 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sauvignon Musque, and 35% Semillon planted at our high elevation site 15 miles from the Pacific. The wine is fermented and aged for 10 months in 100% French Oak (1/3 new), primarily larger puncheons, hogsheads and ‘cigar’ bbls. This bottling is a blend comprised of 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Semillon.
A blend of 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Sémillon, the superb 2016 Alma Gist Ranch Estate White offers up attractive aromas of fresh peach, grapefruit, gooseberry, elderflowers and white currants. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, intense and concentrated, with almost chewy levels of extract, a bright line of acidity and a long, penetrating finish. This is a fabulous Graves-styled blend that could go toe to toe with some of Bordeaux's best dry whites.
