2016 Gist Ranch Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Gist Ranch Estate is juicy and approachable. This full-bodied Cabernet expresses dark fruits, spice, sage and tobacco.
Vineyard
The vineyard was densely planted in the year 2000 at elevations reaching 2300 feet above sea level, 17 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The heavily fractured, vaqueros sandstone soils and unique mountain micro-climate produce singular, deeply concentrated wines that demonstrate the power and elegance of the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.
Winemaker Notes
Poor weather during the early bloom caused shatter and millerandage. Vine stress became an issue late in the year with many of our dry farmed wines showing water and nutrient stress for the first time. The resulting wines are bright and energetic with mid-weight personalities. They are profoundly aromatic and balanced wines that are site expressive and pure.

Other Notes
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is laced with generous dark cherry/plum fruit, licorice, smoke, tobacco and savory herb nuances. Plump and juicy, with tons of immediacy, the Cabernet is another impeccable and alluring wine in the Fogarty's Lexington range. - 90 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous
