2023 Petraza
Petraza is our 'take' on the great white wines of Campania. They represent all we love about Mediterranean white wine in general - managing to be both intense and rich but somehow refreshing at the same time. The Golden fruit, white flowers and hints of nutmeg and baking spices are perfectly balanced by a core of bight acidity and structure. This wine is a perfect seasonal accompaniment to your table this summer and fall.
Vineyard
The Siletto family grows one of California's most fascinating collection of Italian varieties in Tres Pinos, San Benito County. These varieties are well suited to California's Mediterranean climate, especially in the warmer less coastal areas. These lesser known grapes are fascinating and show great promise in California.
Winemaker Notes
The Falanghina and Grecco were picked and fermented separately, both in seasoned, large format, French oak. Originally intended to be two distinct wines, curiosity got the better of us and we began to play around with the idea of blending the two lots towards the end of elevage . These grapes are traditionally grown in the volcanic soils of Campania, near Naples in Italy. This wine was crafted as an ode to these beautiful wines that combine sun-kissed richness with brisk acidity.
