2017 La Vida Bella Vineyard Pinot Noir
Classic "Corralitos" Pinot, a great mix of red and blue fruit, spice and velvety tannins we have come to know and love from wines farmed in this region.
The La Vida Bella vineyard is located above the floor of the Pleasant Valley area of Corralitos. Joe Quink and Pam Minnis' site features a large swale on the northern section of the vineyard with some of the steepest terrain in the area.
Record setting rains replenished our thirsty soils and gave our old vines a much needed reprieve from four drought stressed seasons. The 2017 vintage was another year of record setting heat, continuing our string of record setting temperatures. Luckily, Spring was mild and allowed us to set the best crop we have seen since 2012. A torrid heat spike over the labor day started the growing season with a bang and had us off and running at sprinter’s pace. The weather following was mild and allowed for the latest harvest we have seen in some time. It will go down as a vintage with good yields and potentially great quality.
Santa Cruz Mountains
Crumpled red flowers, tart cherry, raspberry, bay leaf and mint converge in a mellow, delicate manner on the nose of this bottling. Crisp cranberry and pomegranate make for a brisk fruit experience on the palate, yet there are savory mushroom elements as well, all wrapped in a firm texture. Drink 2022–2037.
